The Last of the Great Dive Bars is Frank Schiazza's sixth solo studio album, a collection of simple rock, gritty country and dusty white-northern soul.
"Because the scale of my most recent projects has been so grand, I've been compensating by listening to lots of really simple, honest music: Waylon Jennings, Frankie Valli & the Four Season, Roger Miller, Neil Young, etc.
Just rock music; simple music. With this record, I just wanted to let loose a little, and not worry so much about sonic perfection.
For me, it was all about the groove.
See, I've played some pretty seedy bars over the last few years, where the sound was terrible and the drinks worse.
But there's a groove you pick up on at these places that you just can't get at the more refined halls, and it was that groove I was going for on this record."
